I Got a 2020 iPad Pro 11”!
For the record, I never intended to buy one until my friend Andy convinced me otherwise. He was showing me all the cool features of his new iPad and I knew I had to have one myself.
In the early days of the iPad in 2010, I thought it was a useless product. It was basically an enlarged iPhone! I was convinced that the iPad was a doomed product because it didn’t offer any more functionality over a regular small iPhone that can slip in my pocket. This all changed recently with the introduction of iPadOS. The iPad is MUCH more capable of real work with a totally revised OS. The tech YouTubers were right to complain about how terrible the OS experience was on the iPad. Apple listened and delivered something that can rival even laptops when it comes to productivity.
Andy was telling me all these new awesome apps that were unheard of in the early days of the iPad. He showed me ProCreate, Blink Shell, Side Car, Pythonista, and so much more. I knew I had to have one. I wasn’t aware of how powerful the iPad had become. I became ignorant of the iPad ever since it came out because I thought it was a doomed product. Learning about the hundreds of awesome productivity features on the iPad made me realize that I was being stubborn and ignorant. Just because a product didn’t leave a good first impression on me doesn’t mean it’s a bad product. Maybe it needs time to develop into a fully fledged system. Technology is always improving and growing, so why should I be stuck on the past?
The very next day I put my order in for the iPad Pro 11 inch. I thought to myself, “Damn, I’ve never impulse bought something this badly before.” Turns out that I don’t regret this decision at all! After playing around with the iPad for a week, I can say I was clearly in the wrong for dismissing this device since its release. I’m planning on using this iPad as a sketchbook for my projects, light 3D modeling and CAD, photo editor, and as a portable media management device.
So far, I’ve downloaded GoodNotes5, ProCreate, Shapr3D, and Lightroom.
Here are some examples of what I’ve used my new iPad for:
Overall, I’ve been having a blast with my new iPad. It’s made me even more productive than ever. It’s allowed me to put all my ideas into one central spot and I can organize my side projects efficiently now.
